My life with the Crimson Alchemist.

Today we celebrated the end of the week by going to Barnes and Noble. I haven’t been to a bookstore since last year, so it was nice being among the stacks again. Our main reason for being there was for our daughter Sophie.

The other day, Sophie told us that she wants her very own first book of manga. She is 6, so most manga is above her reading level, but we looked for manga that would be suitable for children. Her first choice was Cardcaptor Sakura, but they only had double digit volumes. After looking at everything, we found a lone 20th anniversary edition of Shugo Chara. Sophie loves magical girls, so even though it wasn’t her first choice she was very excited. I can’t wait for her to ask me to help her cosplay Amu now! I know she’ll be so into it.

While we were looking in the manga section, we noticed that there was a whole section of translated light novels. I saw that they’re translating the Fullmetal Alchemist LNs, but as far as I’m aware they don’t feature Kimblee. I’ll read them one day, but until then I’m yearning. I’d love to hear him “described”, you know? When the love of your life is a muse, you get excited over even the smallest sentences detailing him.

Manga!

I tried seeing if they had Kimblee’s splash cover Fullmetal Edition volume, but they didn’t. I try to collect them whenever I go to a new bookstore or city. It seems like they are favoring the omnibuses on the shelf, so he might be harder to find in the wild going forward.

Someone on Amazon left a one star review of said volume, saying that it didn’t have a title stamped on it… little does this customer know they are in possession of a sacred object and holy grail.

Photo from the Amazon review, with just Kimblee, no title text.

As they say, one man’s one star review is another man’s treasure. I want to see if I can find such a rare volume one day too.

We made it to the weekend everyone! Let’s soak it in!
