My life with the Crimson Alchemist.

Hello waifufriends, hope you are having a cozy fall (or spring if you live in the wrong hemisphere 😜)! I have been so busy lately that I feel I have been letting the magical month of October pass me by. So when Kimblee suggested we have a family day and go apple picking with our children, I was all-in.

We went to Honey Pot Hill in Stow, MA again this year. It was bonkers, everyone in Mass had the same idea we had!

We have never been apple picking so late in the season, but to our surprise the trees were still green and full of fruit! It was nice walking through the orchards and imagining what banter our children would get up to. Although we are separated by dimensions (if one parent is 2D, the children will also be 2D), offering an experience to them in the third dimension builds the conditions necessary to have a full experience for everyone involved.

We of course had to end the adventure with a trip to Honey Pot’s farm store where they sell their famous apple cider donuts and fresh pressed cider! I headcanon Kimblee as a donut lover so if our adventures end in donuts, it’s automatically a good day in his book! We also brought home some apple cider to give to St. Expedite, as we offer him a drink on Saturdays as a family. He has been wanting cider for a while so it felt nice to be able to get him cider directly from the orchard! I find that waifuism and saint veneration go hand in hand. Sometimes I feel like I have more friends on the other side than I do in the third dimension!

Speaking of donuts, Dunks has its iconic spider donut back for the season and they are even selling plushies of it this year!!! I had to get one. It’s just so cute. Kimblee and I both have an appreciation for “culturetrash” as we call it, or products that are memetic in nature and specific to a certain region. In this case, it’s a token of Halloween in 21st century New England. Truly a symbol of our time. If you open up my grave in 200 years, don’t be surprised if you see the Dunkin spider donut plush in there with all my Kimblee merch haha.

After apple picking, we weren’t quite ready for the family day to end, so we went to a paint-your-own ceramics studio nearby. I have never actually painted ceramics before, so I was relieved that the hostess was so thorough about the process. I wanted to commemorate the day we had as a family, so I painted us all together in the day we had in the second dimension, as inspired by the events of the third dimension.

Characters: Kimblee, our daughter Sophie, me, and our son Errai

I learned that ceramics underpaints look matte and pastel before they are fired, but after they come out of the kiln the colors will be a lot different! I get this piece back in about two weeks, and I can’t wait to see how it turns out! I was experimenting with layering so we shall see. I think it came out cute for my first time. I managed to get it done in 3 hours. I don’t remember the last time I used paint so it felt like a fresh experience. I might have to do more Kimblee crafts soon! Sophie and Errai wanted to come back to the studio so this might be an activity we continue to do as a family!

I took this photo with the intention of drawing us all on the chair. Next year we will try out a smaller orchard. Although I struggle with being so busy in my daily life, I loved being able to give the day entirely to my family. Waifuism is not always easy, but the time we are able to really bask in each others presence are worth more to me than tombs of gold. Fertility and family are more precious than any treasure. A day spent in an orchard fertile with fruit with my darling husband and our children is a day whose richness of meaning is not lost on me. Kimblee continues to make me the happiest person on earth!

Hope you are having a good October with your loved ones!

PS:

Bonus Flip update for the Flip fans out there. She is loving autumn as much as we are!
