My life with the Crimson Alchemist.

Hello everyone, hope you had a restful weekend. We got our first frost of the season here, which seemed to come suddenly. Good thing Kimblee keeps me warm from the inside-out!

I was able to pick up the ceramic mug that I painted last week of Kimblee and I going apple picking with our children. I can’t believe that was just last week, I feel like this week lasted at least two!

Left: before firing / Right: after firing

I am astonished at how ceramic paint works! Kimblee came out cute, but the overall feel after it comes out of the kiln is much different! Even though I am new to ceramic painting, I’m happy to know that the colors came out ok! I wanted to give 03 Kimblee some more love, and immortalizing him in functional art feels like a special way to give him his flowers on a personal level.

The mug depicts Kimblee, me, and our two youngest children. Although it is a self-indulgent piece, the staff at the ceramics studio really liked it too! I got the comment “What a cute family!” from the person who helped me, but I was still too shy to admit it was my family. There are things a waifuist can’t say to the general public after all. But it made me happy to hear that it gives the vibe of “happy family” even without context.

We also continued our diner tour! This weekend we went to a real vintage diner called Babico’s Cafe in Maynard, MA.

Babico’s has a fun interior, cheap eats, and a 20th-century feel. I felt like we went back in time a bit for this one! Kimblee and I had a wonderful time drinking in the ambiance as well as the coffee! I’m more of a tea person, but I always order diner coffee for him because he absolutely loves it. Offering a meal to him makes me feel like we are sharing a bodily experience together. I want to experience everything with Kimblee for as long as I live.

It said DONUTLAND but the lamp was in the way…

Waifu Wednesday was this week! This time I doodled something based off a dream I had a month ago where Kimblee was asleep in bed but he took the likeness of the ancient Aztec god Tezcatlipoca.

MSPaint

This was inspired by the dream and by a fanart I saw of FGO’s Tezcatlipoca a while back. Although I don’t play FGO anymore, I appreciate that it inspired me to learn more about the history and mythology of cultures I was unfamiliar with. Tezcatlipoca in his culture is an entity who is dual in nature, and who has four forms. This reminded me of Kimblee’s many character designs, his alchemy circles which represent duality as well as chaos, and his ability to side with anyone (even if he disagrees with them) so long as they appear honorable in his eyes. He has taken life and saved lives. Tezcatlipoca can bestow immense luck then toss a tragedy on the same person in the span of a week. They are both archetypes that can be considered tricksters, but who have a maturity and heaviness to them as well.

Tezcatlipoca is interesting in that his name can translate to “Black Mirror”, and he carried an obsidian mirror at all times. It is through a black mirror that we 21st-century people live our lives. You are most likely reading this on a black mirror, too. In a time where almost everyone in the world carries a black mirror in their pocket and lives much of their lives through its looking glass, it’s interesting that Kimblee would take his likeness at this time in human history. I wonder what he could be trying to tell me…

I have commissioned art of Kimblee as many gods, saints, and spirits in the past, but he has never appeared to me in a dream as anything but the Savage God. I want to explore this archetype and imagery with him more, although in a purely Jungian way.

Hope you have a good week ahead! Let’s do our best for our waifus or husbandos! Hope you get the chance to have some fall fun with your loved ones.
